Parking and Venue Access

The aeriel photograph below details available parking (yellow) and pedestrian access (red) to the MPC building.

There are 4 main carparks available as well as street parking along Laughlin Street (be aware of no standing zones in front of Kingston Primary School).

The only disabled access to the venue is via the Bega Road entrance (left side of the photograph).  This is via a lift in the Multi-Purpose Centre.

There will be signage indicating how to get to the MPC from the various carparks.  Please note it is not possible to walk directly from the first entrance on Laughlin Street to the MPC building as the road is closed as part of a construction zone.  Please also only use designated walkways and pedestrian crossings when moving around College grounds.

If you are unfamiliar with how to get to the College directions can be accessed at the link below:

Words to Remember

The image below was created using words that students, friends and family used to describe George's life.  We know they don't do George justice, but they are words we can remember him by.

Future Posts

We are a week out from George's memorial now.  In the next few days information will be published on:
* how to get to the venue
* where to park
* special access (e.g. disability / special needs parking)

Please keep praying for George's family and close friends as they make final preparations for the service.

A reminder that the service will begin at 10am however the venue will be open from 9.15am onwards.  We are expecting several hundred people to attend so please bear this in mind when making your travel arrangements.

Also remember that if you wish to wear something red in remembrance of George you are most welcome to.

Memorial Service

There has been some talk that the Memorial Service on Saturday 16th July is invitation-only.

This is NOT true.  This service is open to everyone who wants to come and honour George's memory.

Please assure anyone who asks that this is an open event and all are welcome to attend.

Dress Code

Some people are asking about the dress code for the memorial service.  This information is mainly for students, however others are more than welcome to do likewise.

Current Groves Year 12 students are required to wear full academic dress uniform.  This is because as seniors you represent your fellow students and it is a sign of respect to acknowledge Mr Martin as your teacher.  Your teachers will talk to you about this when school resumes.

Years 8 - 11 and other guests - George's family and friends are suggesting smart / casual through to semi-formal.  The only request they have made is no shorts, singlets or thongs.

Smart casual dress would include:
Guys - long pants / jeans, nice shirt / jacket / jumper
Girls - long pants / jeans / skirt, nice shirt or dress

Semi-formal dress would include:
Guys - long dress pants / button up shirt (optional tie) or suit
Girls - long dress pants / skirt / 'dressy' shirt or dress

As George's favourite colour was red, some of his family and friends are wearing something red in remembrance of him.  This could be a red shirt, tie, scarf, hair ribbon etc.  If you wish to do this as well you would be more than welcome to.

Groves staff are not required to wear College uniform.
